Elysium National Park

We are looking to write... A roleplay the mixings the happy vibes of sunny summer days. Where there is a love for nature, camping/ summer camp. Catching up with family and friends. Enjoying the good times. Relaxing.

With the dark twist of the unknown, and that which goes bump in the night.

We plan to lean heavily on Ozark/Arkansas and Appalachian folk lore vibes. Just the vibes, we're not using any specific lore.

Be that creatures that people swear they've seen, to strange events.

Th vibe of "personal encounters" with no real hard evidence. and any evidence provide isn't super clear.

But think things like:

• skin walkers, hairy man beasts, reptilian creatures.

• Stuff tied to specific land marks.

• Weird sounds, laughter, crying, people hearing their names calls.

• Or things like haunted lights in the forest. Roads or ruins the disappear.

• Sudden vanishing of hikers with no trace.

Or stairways suddenly appearing in the forest. (only to disappear)

• Blue cave people.

• Treasures lost in the abundant caves. (that's probably cursed).

Some Ground Rules: All characters must be new characters. We will not accept you playing a previously written OC.

All "monster/cryptid/supernatural" Characters MUST have a human form and be able to blend into regular society.

Additionally: they must also have a reason to be hanging around the camp.

No Crazy hybrid characters. You can be something mixed with human. But nothing else.

Either Monster, Human, or Human monster hybrid.

Average everyday people will NOT know the existence of "monsters/cryptids/super naturals" Outside of "ghost stories" and such legends that are widely believed to be fiction.

All content must have an original twist if being added to this roleplay.

NOOOOOOODLES: All various roles are open. These are a few we'd like to see filled but the roleplay isn't limited to just these. If you have an idea that you think will fit that we haven't mentioned. Pitch it!

Additionally: There is no cap on strictly human, or monster/cryptid characters and currently all roles can be either or.

As long as a character being a spookie makes sense story wise.

But if we find one side is lacking support, we will close submissions for the other side.

Note: Monster/cryptid - Spookie Characters. Will not by default know about all things spookie.

They should have a good idea of their own type of spookie. As in how they work mechanically, and any additional normal social behaviors for their kind. But unless they have IN STORY reason to know about something happening. They should not.

This goes for knowing extensive knowledge of other spookies, or about them on any level. Various Campers and park visitors

Elysium being a National Park, there are going to be park visitors, and then of course campers.

since the majority of this story is going to focus on what happens at the park at all hours.

For now there are several spots open for these kinds of roles.

you can even cross this role with being a local who frequents the park regularly, or a member of staff who enjoys the park so much and camping, they spend their time off there as well.

Just pitch your idea to us, and we'll work with ya to get it all squared away. Park Rangers and other park staff

There are only so many Park Ranger, and other Park Staff roles available.

That number will grow as the roleplay grows, or if the story supports more.

Park Rangers and Park staff. (unless they are spookies themselves) Should not outright know about the monsters/cryptids.

If there have been recent events/attacks. They'll know something happened, but it will not be clear what it is. they'll chop it up to an animal attack, or hallucination due to exposure or something.

Additionally, Even if they are part of a spooky group. That does not mean they know everything that is going on. Nor will they know much if anything if its something another group/type of spookies did.

We ask anyone who takes on a role of park ranger or park staff to be prepared to do the roles justice when playing them. Locals from the closest town/s

Locals near any park, be it big or small always frequent their local spaces. some more than others.

Their temperaments will vary of course. From the kind who are prideful, feel part ownership to the space and like to act like a local guide.

To those who hate non locals, and wish the tourist would go away.

then plenty of various dispositions in between.

We love to have a variety of characters and personalities. So we're not directly looking for any one type in particular.

Just as long as the character makes sense, and isn't going to require a lot of "chasing" and teeth pulling to get them involved in the story.

Post size, Frequency, and what we're looking for in players:

We are looking for players who can consistently post within two-three days of a reply directed at them.

or a post that requires a reply from them.

So somewhere between 2-3 posts per person per week.

With an understanding that after 48 hrs have passed, if there isn't a reply or some sort of inquiry in the OOC, you will be given a reminder pinged.

Repeated reminder pings in a row will be view as having to chase you down. and you'll be removed from the roleplay.

We are not looking to babysit/ chase/ micromanage people to get posts from them. The occasional reminder is fine, but if it becomes a constant thing, we will part ways respectfully.

Post need to on average be between 3 - 5 paragraphs long. With the rare occasion of posts being smaller than 3.

Of course all posts should practice good grammar and spelling. They should read the room, progress the story, and leave hooks for others to build on. Additionally:

We are looking for people who are capable of writing new oc/s that fit this world and theme.

Do not ask if you can use a pre existing OC. the answer will be no.

We are looking for individuals who can clearly communicate frequently and freely. Who like to discuss idea and build together. Who can respect already established lore/ story cannon.

We want people who can follow along to a story that has a full cast of characters that span various locations in a setting. And who can take the initiative to put their characters into the action, and be creative.

We will not do the heavy lifting to include your character. You need to come to us with ideas to discuss.

OOC discussion is a MUST. If you want to write improv and casually with out plot mapping. This is not the rp for you.
